Hmm. Everyone seems to be concentrating on the leaf, but what I'm intrigued/disturbed by is the skin of his feet. I've only seen wrinkling that severe in two cases: old age, which doesn't seem to match the smooth skin of his arms and legs, or else serious burn scars.
Which would be hard to reconcile with the undamaged perfection of the leaf, but not with its flame-colors. So the imagery shifts back and forth and makes us keep it in balanced suspension in our minds.
